Every manager answers to someone
In real football the manager is judged by the board, not just by the fans. My Football Game brings that pressure into every season: the board sets an objective, reacts to every result and steps in when things go badly.
The season objective
Before matchday one the board compares your squad with the other clubs in your division and predicts where you should finish. That prediction becomes your objective:
- Win the title — if your squad is the strongest in the division.
- Promotion — if you are expected to finish in the top three.
- Top half — if you are a mid-table side.
- Survival — if you are among the weaker squads, stay out of the bottom two.
How board confidence moves
Board confidence starts every new club at 60 out of 100. After each match it changes:
- A win raises it, and a win against a club above you in the table raises it more.
- A draw leaves it about where it was.
- A loss lowers it, and losing to a club below you lowers it more.
- Your league position counts too: sitting well below your target slowly drains confidence.
After every match you see the board's reaction, from delighted to concerned, so you always know where you stand.
The ultimatum
If confidence drops below 20 with enough of the season left, the board issues an ultimatum: win two of your next three matches. Pass it and the board backs you again. Fail it and you lose the season prize money, even if you climb the table afterwards.
How to keep the board happy
- Beat the clubs you should beat. Losses to weaker sides cost the most confidence.
- Fix the lineup first. Before a must-win match, check for injured or suspended starters and set your tactics.
- Bank wins early. A good start gives you room for the hard away games later.
- Use the prize money. A stronger squad next season changes the board's expectations in your favour.
